No respite for Karnataka as state may declare 91% of taluks as drought-hit; rain deficit to cause loss of over Rs 46,000 crore

Bengaluru: Karnataka has estimated an economic loss of Rs 46,324 crore due to rainfall deficit, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara has said, adding that 91% of the state may be declared drought-affected.
Karnataka has 240 taluks. The government has already declared 177 taluks as drought-affected. Parameshwara said the tally may touch 220 taluks, which is 91% of the state.
