Every coverage figure on this site is computed over these outlets and no others. That is the most important limitation of every number we publish: an outlet absent from this list is absent from the measurement, and a story only it reported did not happen as far as our figures are concerned.
We read what an outlet publishes on its own site. We do not republish it — every number here is computed from the article, and the article stays where it was published. Who owns each outlet is recorded separately, with its evidence.

What this list does not tell you
It does not say how much each outlet publishes, and volume differs enormously between them — so a share-of-coverage figure is a statement about these outlets in proportion to how much they publish, not about the press as a whole. It also does not say anything about quality. We measure how coverage frames people and policies; we do not rate outlets, and we refuse to produce a composite score for one.
