What changed on Vekuva

Each entry is dated by the day the change was made to our code. A feature that is switched off is not listed until it is switched on.

From the Vekuva team

Written by the people who build Vekuva. Not news, and not analysed.

  1. Full analysis now focuses on Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

    Published

    • Full analysis is for stories about Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. An English story now qualifies when it is in an Andhra Pradesh or Telangana section, or names either state in its headline or near the top. This check does not apply to Telugu stories.
    • Other stories are listed, and say so. An English story that names neither state is still shown, with its headline, outlet, time and a link to the outlet, under the label "Not analysed for framing". It no longer waits in the analysis queue.

  2. A plainer home page and article page

    Published

    • Text-only story cards. Cards on the home page no longer carry placeholder picture tiles. Each card has one plain line with the outlet count, and a "Leans" tag with a party name only when the coverage is estimated to lean.
    • A plainer article page. The story page leads with a plain headline and three readings: party tilt, tone and the main frame. Counters that read zero are no longer shown.
    • View counts. Story views were not being recorded. They are now.
    • New colours and type across the reader pages, in the same navy and grey.

    Commits 7806ff4 and 75077a5.

  3. An entertainment section, and a month view for the panchangam

    Published

    • An entertainment section. /entertainment collects Telugu film and entertainment coverage. These stories are shown but not analysed for political framing.
    • Reported collections. /cinema/collections shows box-office figures as each outlet reported them, under the fixed label "Reported collections, not verified." We do not check, add up or compare them.
    • A month view for the panchangam. /panchangam/month shows the month as a calendar, with full-moon, new-moon, ekadashi and sankranti days marked.

  4. Phone layout, edition default and sign-up fixes

    Published

    • The home feed fits a phone. On some phones the feed was wider than the screen and scrolled sideways. It now fits.
    • The right edition on Indian phones. A phone in India set to US English was shown the United States edition. It now starts on the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana edition.
    • Sign-up on phones. The sign-up page now starts at the top of the screen, with a heading.
    • Article pages open again. For a time, article pages answered with a server error instead of the story. That is fixed.

    Commits 3825d0c and f1cc69a.

  5. A reading edition, and the Telugu panchangam

    Published

    • Reading edition. A language setting lets you choose Telugu first, English first, or both languages ranked together. It changes the order stories appear in. It never hides a story in either language.
    • The Telugu panchangam. /panchangam gives the daily Telugu almanac, computed from an astronomical ephemeris. It is an almanac, not a prediction.
