A loaded word carries a judgement as well as a meaning. Calling a protest a "riot", or a plan a "scheme", tells you how the writer sees it.
Why we mark them
A model marks loaded words so you can see an outlet's word choices. A marked word is not an error. It is a choice you may want to notice.
Each marked word appears in the story's own text, so you can read it in context.
