An AI summary is the short block of points near the top of a story page. A computer model wrote it. The outlet did not write it, and no person on our team checked it before it appeared.
Why we show one
A summary helps you decide quickly whether a story is worth your time. It also lets you compare how different outlets covered the same event.
What it can get wrong
A model can leave out something important, or state something the story did not say. Read the outlet's own story before you rely on any detail. Every story page links to it.
How to spot one
Every AI summary carries the words "AI summary". The label links to how our AI summaries are written and checked.
