What is tone?

Published

From the Vekuva team

Written by the people who build Vekuva. Not news, and not analysed.

Tone describes how an article's own words treat its subject. A model reads the words and calls them favourable, even or cautious.

What tone is not

Tone is about the writing, not the facts. A favourable article is not necessarily wrong, and a cautious one is not necessarily unfair. Tone also says nothing about the outlet's intent.

How it is labelled

Tone is a model estimate, and the page says so beside it. Read the story itself to judge whether the label fits.
