In brief
According to the Excise department, drug mafias in Telangana have adopted a 'gun culture,' carrying lethal weapons alongside narcotics.
Following seizures of pistols and revolvers in Rajendranagar and Bhadrachalam, Excise officials are demanding modern weapons for their staff.
State Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao promised to equip personnel, and officials proposed forming a joint task force with the police to combat the drug-weapon syndicate.
