In brief
A dairy buffalo owned by farmer Jakula Sarveswara Rao died from an electric shock in Thodithalagudem village, Singareni mandal, on Friday.
The buffalo was tied in a shed where a wooden support for an electric meter had rotted due to termites, causing the wire to fall on the animal.
Local leaders visited and consoled the farmer, who estimated the loss at approximately Rs. 1 lakh.
